Why DAS Signal Source Selection Matters
In this video, CTS explains why signal source selection is one of the most important decisions in any cellular DAS project. While many enterprise customers understand the value of a Distributed Antenna System, the source of the cellular signal feeding that DAS can determine whether the system remains reliable, scalable, and effective over time.
Learn how Forté Neutral Source helps building owners and enterprise teams secure dependable multi-carrier cellular signal by bringing fiber-fed signal directly from carrier networks into the building.

Full Transcript: The Importance of Signal Source Selection
CTS is one of the largest wireless integrators in the United States. We have 15 offices across the country, where we provide our customers with in-building connectivity solutions.
Those solutions range from public cellular DAS networks and private cellular DAS, to public safety DAS, Wi-Fi, and fiber LAN systems.
We also have solutions like our Forté signal source solution. Signal source is not that straightforward. Many enterprise customers understand what a DAS is, but signal source is much more complicated.
A lot of our competitors will offer one of two things. One would be a repeater network. The second would be an MNO-contributed signal source.
What’s been very interesting is that over the last two years, the MNOs have dramatically pulled back. Because the MNOs are not contributing those signal sources as often as they used to, a lot of it falls back to repeater networks.
The system may work today as a repeater, but then in six months or a year, that signal source changes outside of the building, and you could be left high and dry without a system that works.
Luckily for CTS, we have a third option. We can guarantee three-carrier signal source with our Forté solution.
A Forté Neutral Source is a program that we have at CTS that allows us to negotiate on your behalf with carriers to bring in fiber-fed signal directly from the carrier’s core network to your DAS network.
It creates its own cell site within the building.
We have a lot of customers that, if they lose connectivity even for a minute, it can mean thousands of dollars in lost productivity.
The system has the ability to scale to the usage needs inside the building. There is a gain in productivity because there is a cellular network within that building.
If you’re looking to install a successful cellular DAS system within your building or project, I would highly recommend that you utilize CTS for that scope of the project to ensure timely completion, on-budget success, from top to bottom.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
A DAS signal source is the cellular signal that feeds a Distributed Antenna System. It determines how carrier service is brought into a building and distributed across the in-building wireless network.
-
Signal source selection affects reliability, carrier availability, scalability, and long-term DAS performance. A system that works today may not perform reliably over time if the source signal changes or is not engineered for the building’s needs.
-
Forté Neutral Source is a CTS solution that helps provide reliable multi-carrier signal for cellular DAS deployments by bringing fiber-fed signal from carrier networks into the building.
